UNSETTLED?

What to do when God’s purpose conflicts with our desire…

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on

thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

Isaiah 26.3

This is the verse of the day on ebible. Seems very fitting in light of the confluence of current events. When I pulled the verse up, I had written a note to myself in the margin of my online bible last month. That reminder is even more relevant today then when I originally wrote it.

“When we look around at our circumstance and situation we quickly succumb to fear. Fear is the opposite of faith and robs the fearful of God’s peace. Agreement that God’s purposes are good is the antidote to fear…If God’s purpose conflicts with our desire, the remedy is not to implore God to change, but rather to realign our desire with God’s purpose.”

So nice to know God is not surprised by current events. It’s also good to be reminded that there are many things beyond our control. Let’s pray for each other and for our leaders. Pray each will seek the source of all wisdom and humbly acknowledge our need.

A farmer knows, the seeds we sow are the seeds we harvest. Except by God's grace, life works that way most of the time. I am deeply indebted to my creator, the one and only true God who gives life to all things by his grace, through his son Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the lessons I've learned from my farming heritage and the privilege of partnering in the cycle of life each new growing season.
