“That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God………..he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.”
2 Corinthians 2.5, 15
There seems to be tension between these two verses Paul penned at the begging and end of chapter 2; or is there? How can we be faithful to both requirements?
It’s tempting to feel our faith should be buttressed with strong and convincing arguments. The verse reminds us our faith is not dependent upon the “wisdom of man;” but the reality that true faith stands by the power of God.
This knowledge does not put the need for discernment on the shelf. “Judging all things” is a pretty daunting responsibility. Wisdom is not sitting on the sidelines awaiting a moving of the spirit. Christians are challenged to be very discerning in every area of life but to do so transparently and without hypocrisy.
How refreshingly different from the times in which we live? It’s good to be different.
