This Is War!

“Give me liberty or give me death.”

What a strange way to fight a war. First destroy the public will to resist with a media hyped hysteria campaign. Then destroy the economy by bankrupting businesses and major industries with forced closures; throwing many out of work. Next close all the colleges and and high schools disbursing tens of millions of students, some who are spreading covid-19, back into the general population with no constructive purpose. Next require any remaining workers to self quarantine.

For the above strategy to work, you must first disable congress from any constructive activity. Do this by spreading the Trump Derangement Syndrome; focusing Russian disinformation and partisan factions on overturning the 2016 election. Build on this base of delusion by ensuring early detection of the covid-19 outbreak in China is masked with charges of xenophobia and more Trump Derangement Syndrome. Deploy the same media assets to convince everyone that exercising their freedoms will ensure the death of civilization and makes them unpatriotic Americans and citizens of the world.

COVID-19 is a revolution. The concerns are valid and the strategy of flattening the curve of the outbreak is reasonable, but we need to ask ourselves, at what cost? Is there nothing as frightening as this highly contagious virus? Are any and all remedies permissible? Is no solution too draconian. Is national hysteria and mindless acquiescence to the worst case scenarios posed by those who claim to know what is best for us, American? Are there no patriotic descendants of Patrick Henry?

Are we still able to ask these questions? Why is no one asking them? Are we afraid to?

A farmer knows, the seeds we sow are the seeds we harvest. Except by God's grace, life works that way most of the time. I am deeply indebted to my creator, the one and only true God who gives life to all things by his grace, through his son Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the lessons I've learned from my farming heritage and the privilege of partnering in the cycle of life each new growing season.
