The Russians Are Coming…Again?

There are two reasons for what a person does…

“Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice, shame on me!”

Dad

Dad was fond of this sage piece of advice. He offered it often for those who operated fast and loose with the facts. He always treated people to the benefit of the doubt and operated on the premise that all were entitled to be believed; until they proved themselves untrustworthy.

He had another saying that is particularly apropo in our present political climate. Perhaps a little cynical, but reflective of partisans intent on pursuing their own perceived interest, at the expense of the common good.

“People have two reasons for what they do; the one they tell you….and the real one.”

Dad

The Christian world view recognizes the depravity of the human heart. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17.9

We need to be more discerning when confronted with platitudes that sound true, but in reality have ulterior purposes. The “Russia Collusion” story was pushed far to long the first time, it’s disheartening to see that it’s actually being revived again!

Yes, the Russians are up to no good. They have been since the end of WW II. Their purpose is to disrupt America’s trust in the election process and undermine America’s ability to effectively govern. Thanks to the “Russia Collusion Hoax” and the politics of division, Russian measures to impact America’s form of government, have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams.

Fooled us once, shame on you! Partisan politicians who are opting for a rerun of Russia collusion must not fool us twice: They need to be sent home! Get a real job, but don’t apply here.

A farmer knows, the seeds we sow are the seeds we harvest. Except by God's grace, life works that way most of the time. I am deeply indebted to my creator, the one and only true God who gives life to all things by his grace, through his son Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the lessons I've learned from my farming heritage and the privilege of partnering in the cycle of life each new growing season.
