A Savior Is Born

What is greater, than Pen can write

or reason conceive,

A Savior,

Who came as a babe…

In a manger

The distinctive cries of a newborn from the stable…

Were silenced by his mother’s breast.  Joseph placed fresh hay in the manger;

Its sweet aroma, mingled with the pungent odors of the stable, created a rich earthy incense that filled the air.

After satisfying her newborn’s need for nourishment, Mary swaddled their sleeping infant and placed Him tenderly in the manger.

The infant king, whose birth the world awaited; had made his grand entrance while Bethlehem slept.

Quiet descended on the stable, adjacent the inn.

The occasional rustling of animals; chewing of cuds; mingled with other subliminal night sounds, awaiting the coming of dawn.

A soft light bathed the home and stable.

It’s rays shimmered through the window and penetrated the shadows. A pleasant ambiance bathed the stables crude surroundings with a glow.

A single shaft of light poured through a seam in the palm fronds forming the roof: Illuminating the infant and cradle in a gentle halo.

Streaming from the surrounding hills the shepherds clamored to see the baby

“…wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”

Dramatic gestures accompanied fantastic stories of the sudden appearance of the joyful envoys in the sky saying; “Be not afraid.”

The glow from the heavens, guided the shepherds to the home, and stable, where the baby lay in the manger.

The breathless shepherds created a stir, rousting the nearby occupants from their slumber on a winters eve, warmed by the mysterious light over the home and stable.

“His name is Jesus” was heard amongst the excited chattering of those awakened by the shepherds.

The glow of light above and tender sounds of a newborn, from the stable; awakened the Innkeeper.

The appearance of the shepherds, and tales of angelic messengers;

Brought an air of wonderment to the inn; and a flurry of activity from the innkeeper and his wife.

As the shepherds reluctantly returned to their flocks and Mary and Joseph were moved from the stable to the innkeepers home, the evening of surprises was not yet complete. God had prepared a grand finale.

The coronation of his son by a royal procession from the East.

A farmer knows, the seeds we sow are the seeds we harvest. Except by God's grace, life works that way most of the time. I am deeply indebted to my creator, the one and only true God who gives life to all things by his grace, through his son Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the lessons I've learned from my farming heritage and the privilege of partnering in the cycle of life each new growing season.
